This is What I Did Last Saturday
May 22, 2007I'm going to tell you what I did last Saturday. Yes. Last Saturday. I know it's Tuesday already and actually just a few hours away from Wednesday and that whatever I might have to say may have a much better account over at my wifey's blog but hey, I just really need to write something because I'm afraid if I succumb to this writer's block that's been plaguing me the past few weeks then my brain or at least the part of my brain that's responsible for writing, might atrophy and that would be sad. And yes, that was a very long sentence. Anyway, I was stuck in Pasay early that Saturday morning while Jen took her midterm exam for their company's Management Development Program. I was supposed to head on to the Pentax service center to pick up our digicam which has just been repaired but I forgot the service invoice in my office drawer because I tend to be stupid like that sometimes. It wasn't too bad really. I got to talk to Karen, one of my professors from college and incidentally heading the said Management Development Program (which will be from here on referred to as MDP because it's too long to say the whole thing and besides, acronyms are cool.) and her partner Amy. We got to talk about computers and blogging and travel and tourism and politics and philosophy. I won't bore you with the details but trust me, I was brilliant. I know because I was parotting the words of people who are generally considered to be brilliant. I won't tell you who because they're obscure and that will ruin the illusion of my intelligence.
So Jen finished the exam 30 minutes ahead of everybody else because she's not only a hottie, she's really smart too. Also, she has really big boobies. Yeah I know. I'm lucky like that. So because we had the rest of the day to enjoy, we headed off to the Mall of Asia to find something brainless and pedestrian to do. We decided to catch Shrek the 3rd. I really liked the first two movies and I was actually kind of excited to watch the third installment but we had a few extra minutes to kill so we decided to have lunch first. We went to Starbucks on the ground floor near Imax because from experience, it was the only place in MoA (Mall of Asia if you haven't figured it out. Like i said, acronyms rock) that had dependable WiFi that was free. So I buy a sandwhich and a roll and some coffee and iced tea, all of which are overpriced because it's Starbucks and it's supposed to make sure that only cool kids with money can go there, only to find out that the dependable free WiFi was not so dependable after all because we couldn't get a signal. Such sadness. Anyway, it wasn't so bad. We got to talk and that's nice because married couples should talk and not just about bills and laundry and chores and other boring but necessary stuff. So those few minutes before the movie turned out to be pretty good. Yay!
Overpriced food is cool!
Lost in conversation as we were, we hardly noticed that it was soon time for us to catch our movie. And so we did. I enjoyed it, in spite of the fact that there were dozens of children in our row, the row behind us and the row in front of us and they were all asking they're parents every so often what the fuck it was that people were laughing about. I shut them up easily with a few leg drops and sidewalk slams. Oh and there was this one father who tried to stop me and I put him in a sharpshooter and made him cry. But I digress. So the movie lacked the seminal humor present in the first two movies. I also missed the jabs at fairy tales and the fairy tale that Hollywood has become. That is not to say that the movie wasn't entertaining though. It may not be as smart as the first two movies but it was a fun 92 minutes nonetheless. I also realized that I look a lot like Shrek. Maybe next Halloween, I'll paint myself green and stick a couple of ogre ears on my head.
