Christmas…
December 25, 2006..is almost over but here's one last carol for all you folks:
Sung to the tune of The Christmas Song
Your nuts roasting on an open fire…
Frostbite chipping off your nose…
Poor li'l Carol was raped by the choir…
And gangbanged by eskimos…
Everybody knows…
The turkey ate my middle toe…
So now I can't walk right….
Tiny tots, with eyes all aglow…
Bake slowly in the oven tonight…
They say that Santa likes to play…
He blew a load of cum on kiddies in his sleigh…
And every mother's child will want to spy…
To see if reindeers will eat the poisoned pie…
And so I'm offering this simple phrase…
To kids from one to ninety two…
Although it's been said, many time many ways…
Twisted Christmas…
Sick twisted christmas…
To you…
Happy holidays to everyone!
Adam Mordo at the 9th Philippine Web Awards
December 8, 2006So I leave Ortigas at around 6:00PM for a 7:00PM affair to be held in nearby Makati. On the way, I'm supposed to pick up Jen, The Sexy Nomad from Pasay. An easy enough drive, 45 minutes tops even in normal holiday season traffic on EDSA. Or so I thought. Suffice it to say that traffic was unusually gnarly last night. Yet, I persevered. I lost my temper several times and nearly stabbed a few people but I cooled down thinking that if I'm this horribly stuck in traffic, a great number of people also going to the 9th Philippine Web Awards would be too. It's an evil thought but that made me smile. So anyway, nearly 3 hours later we finally get to RCBC plaza in Makati. We signed in and were given pink stickers (PINK!) that proclaimed, "Semi-Finalist". As you know both Jen's blog and TMB got through to the semis of this years Philippine webbys. I stuck it to my chest and read it aloud, "Semi-finalist". In my head though it sounded like "Loo-hoo-serr".
I stuck Jen's sticker on her chest and that made me feel A LOT BETTER. Why? Well…because. Ain't it obvious? Anyway, I also felt great about the fact that Jen made the Semis. For one thing, I played quite a bit of a role to turn her on to blogging. And another thing, her getting into that circle using i.ph as her blogging platform was great exposure for i.ph.
We get ushered up to the third level balcony of the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium as we were told that the orchestra level was full. So we climb up several flights and get some pretty ok seats although we were somewhat isolated from most of the crowd. Some Aussie based Filipino band composed of 3 brothers called DNA rock started playing some heavy music and they were fucking awesome. I'm sure I would have appreciated them more if I didn't have a migraine. After a thankfully short set, they started giving out the awards. I wasn't paying that much attention to things so I can't give you much info on that except that Jen looked stunning as always and that Pinky Amador was one of the presentors which is funny because we just saw Pinky in Boracay last weekend.
Anyway, the night begins to wind down, Pinky leaves the stage and then Helen the band plays. They were really good too. Light and haunting ecclectic mix of jazz and rock and everything in between. I'm sure I would have appreciated them more if I weren't feeling sleepy. Anyway, they wrap up and then Francine Prieto and some guy who I'm sure is pretty important get up on stage and give out some more awards. Then the category most of have been waiting for, Blogs. It's the first time Blogs were included in the webbys and Touched by An Angel, Noemi Dado walks away with the best blog award. Then they announced the People's Choice award for the blog category, an award based on online and SMS voting. And they called out THE SEXY NOMAD. Jen is stunned. She did not expect to win being as she only made it to the semifinal round. She thrusts her tiny bag and her camera at me, leaving me to look like a big fat girly man, and she runs down all those stairs to get her well deserved trophy.
And here she is, overwhelmed and a bit out of breath from her sprint down those stairs. And she gives me a special mention too, "I would also like to thank my husband who inspired me to blog." I almost melt in my chair.
Afterwards we try to mingle a bit but because everyone seemed in a hurry to go home, we just snapped a few more pictures.
Here's the newbie with her webby. An awesome achievement if I do say so myself.
And here I am posing with a trophy that isn't mine. So my pet project, The Man Blog walked away with zilch but that's ok. I know I should feel a little bit bad but I really don't. I can't. How can I when I'm married to this:
